Former Coronation Street writer Adele Rose, who died last week, had a โvery Jewish mother attitude to lifeโ.
Mrs Rose, 87, penned 460 episodes of the hit ITV series over nearly 40 years.Her second husband, Peter Chadwick, told the Jewish Telegraph
: โAdele had to make sure everybody was okay.

โHer son, Steve, said that if she didnโt have anything to worry about, it would worry her.โ
Mrs Rose started work on Coronation Street in 1961 and became its longest serving and most prolific writer.
As well as writing for Heartbeat , Angels, Z Cars, The Dustbinmen, Robinโs Nest and Crossroads, she also created Byker Grove, the popular BBC One series about a youth club in Newcastle.
The show launched the careers of presenters Ant and Dec, who paid tribute to Mrs Rose on Twitter, writing: โWe are very sad to hear of the passing of Adele Rose, the creator of #BykerGrove.
โShe was an incredible lady and a wonderful writer. We will always be grateful for what she did for us and the North East. Thank you Adele and rest in peace Xโ.
Mrs Rose was born in Prestwich, Manchester, the daughter of Clare and Sidney Rose.
Her sister, Dorothy (Cowen), still lives in the city.
One of her first cousins was surgeon Sidney Rose, who served on the board at Manchester City for many years and became its life vice-president.
After attending Broughton High School, she worked at an advertising agency and followed her boss to Granada Television.
His assistant was fellow Mancunian Jack Rosenthal, who went on to write 129 early episodes of Corrie.
Mrs Rose was encouraged by Rosenthal to submit a script for the show.
Mr Chadwick said: โAdele had done some amateur writing work, so she wrote to Harry Kershaw, who produced Coronation Street.
โShe told him that it was known for having strong female characters, but that there were no female writers.
โHarry told her, โall right, write, a script thenโ โ and the rest, as they say, is history.
โAdele loved writing for Coronation Street, especially the honour โ she enjoyed the backchat, especially between the battleaxe characters.โ
Mrs Rose was particularly close to Pat Phoenix, who played Elsie Tanner, and Barbara Knox, who plays Rita Tanner.
She was a matron of honour at Ms Phoenixโs wedding to Alan Browning and had recommended Ms Knox for the part of Rita.
Ms Rose was married to local doctor Monty Rose, but they divorced.
They had two children, Steven and Carrie, who died from sepsis two years ago at the age of 57.
Mrs Rose met her second husband in Manchester 40 years ago.
He recalled: โI was working for the Daily Mail at the time and had visited the Millionaire Club, which was owned by Peter Stringfellow, with a colleague.
โI became friendly with Peter and his wife, Coral, later phoned me to say they were holding a Miss Millionaire competition.
โOne of the judges had let them down and she asked if I would take his place.
โWhen I arrived at the club, I found that the other judge was Adele.โ
The couple married 10 years ago, having lived in Manchester, Newcastle and London.
They retired to Cirencester, in the Cotswolds, in 2000.
It was while in Newcastle that Mrs Rose was approached by television executive Andrea Wonfor to write a childrenโs series set in the north-east city.
She agreed, and Byker Grove, which ran until 2006, was born.
Mrs Rose left Coronation Street in 1998 after Brian Park became its series producer.
Her final episode was broadcast on April 5, 1998, while, a year earlier, she had come up with the story idea for Coronation Street: Viva Las Vegas, a spin-off which was released on video.
โAdele actually never watched Coronation Street after she left because she did not approve of the way it was going,โ Mr Chadwick said.
โThe TV Times once wrote that Adele was one of the 20 most powerful women in television,โ Mr Chadwick said.
โShe was modest and thought it was a load of old nonsense.โ
She also won a BAFTA for her work in 1993 and one of her proteges was Sally Wainwright, who started her career at Corrie and went on to create drama series such as Scott & Bailey, Last Tango in Halifax and Happy Valley.
Husband Peter, son Steve and grandson Daniel survive her.
