I attach a poem, written in the immediate wake of the UN resolution and the abstention of the USA, rather than an article because I wanted to capture the duplicity of Israel’s so-called friends.

Am Yisrael Chai

Israel’s Maccabean spirit will not wane,
No matter what erstwhile friends may say;
Who play political games without a shred of shame,
To applause from those who pressure allies to betray.
A country founded on grief and lost generations,
Striving to create a land of prosperity and justice;
Where there was nothing but dust and repression.
She faces an enemy who to appease is to invite malice,
But one day will have to fight to their disgrace;
A struggle greater than a local war,
Against forces that would enslave the world;
And then what will the temporal powers roar?
“Little Israel beleaguered, insightful but we forsook!”
