Dear Member Because of the rapid rise in covid infections, we have had to take the decision to cancel, for the time being, and until further notice,  the following social activities; Bagel Breakfasts on Thursday morning and L’chaim kiddushim  on Friday nights – these will not take place. Covid Fear Since we have entered "lockdown 2" I have observed that a lot of people are living in genuine fear of COVID-19. It is leading to tensions between people, to absurd applications of the rules - such as the widely reported arrest of a daughter who took her 97 year old mother from a care home to hug her. There is also genuine concern amongst many that the data that is the basis for the new lockdown laws does not stack up (Therese May questioned this in parliament this week). My purpose in writing here however is not to share with you my political view on the Corona virus crises. My aim is to fortify ourselves with the faith that Hashem is in control of our health. Parshat Toldot In this weeks Parshah we see the devastating consequences of not having a proper role model. I am of course referring to Esav. Chapter 25 verse 27 states: And the lads grew up and Esav became a man who knows how to trap. A man of the field. Jacob was an honest/singleminded man dwelling in the tents. Rashi points out that the verse only describes the emerging differences when they grew up and basing himself on a famous Midrash explains that actually throughout their childhood- the early years and primary school ages the behaviour of the two boys was indistinguishable. Only when they both reached Bar Mitzva did everything start to go so pear shaped for Esav. Now this may not seem so surprising.
