I am writing to you as someone who voted for the prominent scholar, theologian and philosopher Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks during the Genesis Prize online voting campaign.
As you know, Rabbi Sacks passed away in November 2020 in the midst of the 10-week voting campaign. You were among the tens of thousands of Jews throughout the world to cast their votes for Lord Sacks.
Two weeks ago, I shared with you the news that Steven Spielberg was selected as the 2021 Genesis Prize Laureate. Today, I am writing to let you know that in recognition of the immense contributions of Lord Sacks as a teacher of both Jewish and universal values, The Genesis Prize Foundation (GPF) will honour the life and impact of this extraordinary Jewish leader at a special event in London on November 14, shortly after the first anniversary of his passing. Many UK luminaries and distinguished leaders of the global Jewish community are expected to take part in the event.
In addition, our Foundation will produce a documentary about the life and impact of Rabbi Sacks, who served as Chief Rabbi of the UK and advisor to heads of governments and members of the British Royal Family. Click here to read our press release.
We are also in discussions with the Rabbi Sacks Legacy Trust about supporting other significant initiatives aimed at sustaining his enduring legacy. We will keep you posted about this as well as the philanthropic work we will be doing in honour of Steven Spielberg.
