Dear all,
I hope you had a good Shabbos and are enjoying the rest of your weekend.
Some of you may have already received this message via local police contacts or neighbourhood teams, but I have also been asked to help distribute it across our community. The police are taking this matter extremely seriously and I have been contacted by multiple officers to relay their support.
The message is not unexpected for CST and our work to protect our community will not change because of it. Our key message remains that we must be alert to potential threats, keep doors and gates locked at all times, and report any suspicious activity in real time to the police and then CST.
If you need any additional support from CST, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me.
“The Iranian regime has a long history of targeting Jewish and Israeli interests around the world. Iran’s publicly stated animosity towards Jewish and Israeli interests has manifested in a persistent level of threat and, unfortunately, attacks around the world aimed at the representatives, citizens and symbols of Israel and also Jewish communities. This was most recently seen in November 2022 with what appeared to be an indiscriminate attack in Germany against a Synagogue and, subsequently, the UK Security Minister recently highlighting that between 2020 and 2022 Iran has tried to collect intelligence on UK-based Israeli and Jewish individuals. These activities come against the backdrop of this longstanding and persistent Iranian animosity towards the Israeli and Jewish community globally which has existed since the beginning of the Iranian Revolution.
The UK takes any threat to the UK-based Jewish community extremely seriously. Recent media serves to highlight the enduring hostility of the Iranian regime. However, the community should be alert but not alarmed. We would advise the community to remain vigilant and to report any activity of concern to the police.”
Kind regards,
Josh
